News of the Realm! =============oOo============= NEVERWINTER NEWS Issue #15 Week ending January 2, 1994 BEST PVPER OF THE REALMS! ------------------------------------- The 3rd Annual PVP Tourney, which Apoth took many long hours of planning and determination to organize, has come to a close. Many talented and respectable players participated in the event to earn the bragging rights of being the best. Tales from the mighty battles were brought back and posted on the events boards so that all could see. The stories kept us on the edge of our seats waiting to see who the winner would be. Congratulations to those who were a part of the tournament, all of you fought honorable battles! During the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, Devanis of OGS was crowned best PVPer in the Realm! He successfully defeated Merculus of KAAOS in the final round. Congrats to Devanis! Well fought! A QUEST! A QUEST! ------------------------ Due to popular demand, it's a new type of Quest! January 22nd, 9pm - 1am EST, Version 2. You will play a role necessary to the completion of this Quest! You and your team will play 4 roles in order to solve the mystery of Aramos Manor! Lord Nasher recently welcomed a noble family to Neverwinter, Lord Jahron and Lady Tanya Aramos. These two exotic travelers hail from a faraway land and wished to integrate into society as quickly as possible. To do so they held a Gala Ball and it was a huge success. Jahron and Tanya showed themselves to be an open, friendly couple. Everything was quiet and serene until recently. Lady Tanya was seen walking the streets with a known rake and womanizer. Also, Jahron and Tanya, who had been noticable in walking together every early evening stopped this pleasant excursion a few months ago. Jahron and Tanya were seen having an argument on their balcony. It culminated in her tossing her wedding ring into the street. It was picked up by a passing couple and handed to the Aramos footman. Just recently, the Aramos household staff were fired! They are scattered around Neverwinter and its environments. Your job will be to find the staff and solve the mystery, are you up to the challenge? Can you become one of the people below to solve the mystery and win the Quest? OUR HEROS ---------------- Is there someone in the Realms that is constantly doing deeds for the enrichment of Neverwinter? Or have you been impressed with the demeanor of a player? NW Bruno will be awarding the "Good Samaritan Award" once again. Please be aware that not only a person of neutral or good alignment is capable of winning. An evil character can add just as much enjoyment to the Realm as any other. This award allows all of Neverwinter to recognize these citizens as an important part of the game. If you notice a noble act performed in the Realms, please don't hesitate and E-mail NW Bruno, with the name of the person. With your help, we can get this award rolling again. SHADES OF GREY --------------------- Dateline Waterdeep Press International: early Nightal Year of the Shadows 1359 Dale Reckoning In the City of Neverwinter, on the Sword Coast, the Grey Company, that group of elves which see to elven interests in the North have just completed construction of a new, much larger, private guild hall. Adjacent to that of the other Private Guilds of Neverwinter, and sharing their Guild Conference Hall, it is located at the edge of that fair city, and has a lovely view of both the Sea of Swords, and the nearby Neverwinter Wood. It is most notable for its large library of elven texts, and references, including the most complete elven dictionary outside of Evereska or Evermeet. The old offices of the Company are yet open, and still accessible to the public. The new halls however, are for members only, access being determined by the Captain of the Company, Eric Dreamsmyth through a powerful Wardmyst, which bars entry by those lacking the proper token. Senan Hawkmoon, Waterdeep Press Correspondent WHO IS BEHIND THE KEYBOARD? ----------------------------------------- On April 15th, 16th, and 17th Neverwinter players will be in Chicago!. Take a look in the "Spring NWN Bash" folder, you might see recognize the name of a few people attending. This NW exclusive bash will give you the chance to meet the people you have been adventuring with. Activities will include (among others) Virtual Reality Battletech, Laser Tag, and dinner at Medieval Times. HELP! --------------- Many citizens of Neverwinter have been experiencing many roadblocks in the realms as of late. There are a few tips to follow to keep these to a minimum. First and foremost, try not to rest near gates. Combats started at the gates can cause enourmous traffic jams because people entering the gate can be "sucked" in unaware of the combat that lies beneath them. PVP roadblocks have been another concern. When PVPing on a main roadway if a player needs to get by, try and finish off the encounter and move ot a less populated road to commence the battle. Combat loops are another major cause of roadblocks. When approaching a battle, make sure the players inside the battle move off the square after it has ended, before you step on to it. This will decrease the chances of that combat restarting and pulling everyone in again. BARDS GUILD AUDITIONS '94! ---------------------------------------------- The bards guild will be holding it's annual open auditions in a private room titled "bards guild". All are welcome to attend and observe prospective new members strut their stuff to gain entrance into the guild This event will be from 8-10 pm pacific time on Tuesday night. So come on in and join the fun! ASSASSINATION IS THE NAME OF THE GAME! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Dark Smurf has sparked up some interest in an assassination game on the public boards. Just like the 'ole assassination game, your objective is to strike the killing blow on other citizens in the realm. Excitement was in the air as teams were formed up and the holds, along with the infamous Fire Giant Frenzy, went flying. Dudemyster, of the BoP, was coordinator of the event. Special thanks to NW Guilds, better known as Guildie for her help with the sanctioning. After votes are tallied a cloak of displacement shall be awarded to the most improved PVP'er. GOLD BOX KITS! ---------------------- As noted in a Special Neverwinter Nights News Items earlier in the week, The Gold Box Kit's for Neverwinter Nights V2 are now available. Please note that the process which gives access to the Guild of Heroes is currently being run manually, while being monitored to insure all is running properly. This means GOH access can take for 24 to 76 hours or more, if ordered over a weekend. Anyone not recieving Guild of Heroes Access within a week of ordering the Gold Box Kit, should e-mail LordNasher for admittance. We hope to have the process automated soon, thus insuring access to the Guild of Heroes within 24 hours of ordering. HELP HELP! ------------------- With the new version starting everyone finds themselves starting a new character. You rasie your first class up to a certain level, only to find out you are unable to dual. Well here is the information you need to be sure you dont get stuck in this situation! To dual a character must have a minimum of 15's in each of the original class prime requisits. Furthermore, the character must also have a minimum of 17 in each prime requisit of the class you desire to dual to. The following is a list of the classes and their prime requisits. Cleric - Wisdom Fighter - Strength, Constitution Paladin - Strength, Intelligence, Wisdom, Constitution, charisma Ranger - Strength, Intelligence, Wisdom, Constitution Magic-User - Intelligence Thief - Dexterity For instance a Paladin dualing to a mage must have the following minimum ability scores: Paladin/MU Str:15 Int:17 Wis:15 Dex:15 Con:15 Cha:17 And a Ranger wishing to dual to mage would need the following minimum ability scores: Ranger/MU Str:15 Int:17 Wis:15 Dex:any Con:15 Cha:any Thank you Stomperr for contributing this idea for this weeks news! It is interesting to note that the 3 top teams were all representing their respective guilds! Guild participation in this event was high and a tribute the guilds! First Place Honors go to the OGS Team of Arinseault, Zamroth, Gray Genie and Lord Oden! Excellent team work and role playing is the best way to describe this team! Second Place Honors go to the KAAOS Team of Malhav0k, Sir Rellik, DarkTaz and GrayHammer! Well done folks! Watch this guild everyone, not only are they deadly, but this new and still unsanctioned guild is a growing force in Neverwinter. Third Place Honors go to the BOP Team of Sir Mekir, Nightruner, Lian, and Dramia! This was their first time participating in a quest with a Guild Team, and from the looks of it, not to be their last! Watch this team in the future! With the votes all tabulated, the players have selected Toramarth as the outstanding NPC for this quest. Well done Toramarth! Dramia, of the Brotherhood of Pathfinders had set up a wooden table in the backroom of one of the old storage rooms along the waterfront and personages of all walks of life went in and out like a rabbit in a bolt hole! Sir Mekir, Lian, Vulcan, Dravian and a host of others hovered over a table to the side..whispers were heard "no this way will be the fastest". Sir Mekir uttered in harsh tones.."I'll beat that old Tal0t to the finish you'll see!" I noticed a woman of noble lineage..approach Dramia and whisper..500 gems on Sir Mekir to Win...leaving a pouch she was away quickly...the name was scratched on the parchment along with the bet and I knew what was a foot! A race between Sir Mekir and Talb0t! That was all I could gather of this writing..but never fear, this ole hound dog reporter will get to the bottom of this scoop yet!
